Getting to American Village

American Village is in Chatan, on the coast north of Naha. There is no monorail here — the Yui Rail line does not reach Chatan — so the practical ways in are by car, route bus, or airport limousine bus.

From Naha Airport / central Naha

• Car / rental car (most common): Head north on Route 58 along the coast. It is roughly a 40-minute drive from the airport or central Naha, though Route 58 can be slow at rush hour and on weekend evenings. American Village is a car-first destination with several parking lots (see below).
• Route bus: Buses run from Naha (Naha Bus Terminal) up Route 58 toward Chatan; get off around the American Village / Mihama area. Routes and fares change, so check a current timetable or a transit app on the day.
• Airport limousine bus: Some limousine services connect Naha Airport with resort hotels in the Chatan area. If you are staying at a hotel near American Village, check whether it is on a limousine route when you book.
• Taxi: Convenient with luggage or after sunset when buses thin out; the fare from Naha reflects the ~40-minute distance.

Parking

• American Village has several parking lots — a mix of free and paid/time-based. Each spot page notes parking where we have confirmed it.
• Weekend and sunset hours are the busiest: lots near the beach fill up first, so allow extra time or park a little farther out and walk.
• Fee structures change; always check the signage at the lot you use.

Getting around on foot

• The Mihama core (Depot Island, the shops and Sunset Beach) is compact and easy to walk once you have parked.
• Sunabe (the seawall) and Araha Beach are a short drive further along the coast, not really a walk from Mihama.
• For sunset, check the day's sunset time and arrive a little early — the western sky over the sea is the main event.
